Today marks the first Monday of 2025, making it the most momentous day of the calendar year. I believe that today’s actions very specifically set the tone for the remainder of the year. And while that may sound like a bold statement considering that today only represents 0.0027% of the year, I’ve seen the result of todays actions unfold disastrously more times than I can count on both hands given the industry that I work in. So be methodical about how you approach your day today… because choosing to not go to gym, review your financial plan, or grocery shop and meal prep might ultimately make or break whether or not you actually reach your 2025 goals!
Right now, your motivation should be at an all time high… which is exactly why people choose to start working towards a goal in January to begin with. The new year literally represents a fresh opportunity to succeed. So failing to put in the necessary sweat equity towards accomplishing your goals today means that those goals probably weren’t all that meaningful to you in the first place. But assuming that you’re in the right headspace and are ready to crush your goals in the new year, let’s dive in and take a closer look at what your day today should look like…
Remember that the process associated with accomplishing any goal is not meant to be sexy, regardless of whatever the outcome looks like. It requires establishing a series of positive daily habits that, over time, become routine. And when you string together a long series of daily wins in the form of what I like to call an “unfuckwithable routine”, you start to see results! These results become momentous and well, you get the idea…
With that in mind, your day today should include the prioritization of at least the following things:
meals that are focused around lean protein and veggies
The consumption of 60% of your bodyweight in water
Roughly 8 hours in sleep
30 minutes of physical activity
If you can prioritize these four things today, then I guarantee you that in a weeks time, you’ll have the energy and focus to accomplish anything you set your mind to. If your goals are fitness related, then I would start here, making these four things the cornerstones of your daily routine. If you have other non fitness related goals in mind, then feel free to add to your daily “to do list”. Just remember to keep your daily list short and easy to follow so that you don’t burn out when life gets hard!
